The focus of this year’s Paddle Raiser at our annual gala was presented by two of our long-time teachers, Gay Waterbury and Danielle Bahl.
Gay opened the presentation with gratitude to all Jarrow parents who so heartily supported the Heart of Jarrow Fund two years ago. With resources from Heart of Jarrow, your children’s teachers have been able to travel to places they may have never gone. Thanks to Jarrow parents, teachers have broadened their worlds, attending special events and traveling both internationally and locally. It’s been an incredible gift.
In this same spirit, and on behalf of your children, the teaching staff encouraged us to consider this year’s Paddle Raiser: Heart of Jarrow Part Two.
Just as Jarrow parents have empowered our staff to stretch to new horizons with the Heart of Jarrow Fund, the teachers are excited about further broadening the worlds of our students with our magnificent new Resource Room.
This new space will serve many purposes to enrich experiences for our children. This will be a place where classrooms will blend for special events and pursuits, where students of varying levels will come together in small groups and large groups for research, for shared lessons and for celebrations. This will be a place that will help unify our mission of community as a school.
In this room, we envision a blend of academics and the arts. With your support, it will become a sacred space for experiencing new learning that will include literature, science and culture.
Just as you have supported the Jarrow teachers to encounter the wider world in beautiful ways with Heart of Jarrow, the Resource Room will allow us to expand your children’s worlds with experiences and resources that could include microscopes, a 3D printer, a floor loom, sewing machines, Montessori materials and a new computer. The vision will expand, as your children’s teachers will be applying their imaginations to create a wonderful new space for all of Jarrow’s students.
